On 23 June we aired a 13-hour ‘spirit of Wildfire’ marathon broadcast on local radio – a day that showcased the music of 100 new bands and raised support for the return of Wildfire Festival in 2019. Nikki Smash came along to the studio, and here is his live interview. The audio quality is lower res than usual as we didn’t record much of the day, but it’s a soulful and spirited interview from Nikki. Impromptu conversation goes around the houses and spans the education work of Waterbear, Massive Wagons’ new album, Wildfire and the grassroots scene, Mat Mitchell and the Colour of Noise, working with RPM, mental health, Aaron Buchanan, crowdfunder ‘thank yous’, StoneWire and the story behind some of the tunes on the new RocketDolls album
