A feature hour inspired by a song: ‘Ratio’ by Massive Wagons was first aired on my rock show in March 2016, back-to- back with a first spin for ‘Tokyo’ and it became an instant listener favourite. To coincide with Ratio’s official release as a single in September 2016, I aired an hour special on the band drawing on clips from the various interviews I had done with them over the previous 12 months – including some previously un-aired material. The feature ‘A Year of Ratio’ chronicled a landmark year for the band.
Four months later in December 2016, ‘Ratio’ was named my rock show’s song of 2016 and the band was voted ‘Band of the Year’ following engagement from more than 10,000 listeners. In response to this, the ‘Year of Ratio’ feature was re-edited, updated and re-aired as ‘Sixteen’ as my last feature hour of 2016.
This listen again clip features the speech segments from the September ‘Year of Ratio’ hour special and at the end there is a clip from the end of my ‘Band of the Year’ countdown show in December – when Massive Wagons were revealed as the listeners’ band of 2016.
Massive Wagons are already back in action for 2017. A new charity single ‘Back To The Stack’ is scheduled for April release and I’ll be interviewing the band at Stone Free. The story continues…
