A week before the release of the new studio album, I spoke with Wayne Doyle about what will likely be Scarlet Rebels’ third consecutive top 20 album with Earache Records, a feat the band would share with Massive Wagons and the Crows – three former Bands of the Year with Great Music Stories between 2016-19. Wayne talks about the making of the new album and the milestone headline show at Chepstow Castle. We also look back on the band’s journey over the last decade. Whilst commercial and live circuit success has come and national rock media now back them, this band’s success has been largely been powered by thousands of people and groups from the grassroots scene over the last decade. And Wayne stays true to his belief in the primacy of the song and his humble, authentic desire for his music to be heard and enjoyed.
